Its unique formulation contains natural chamomile, an ingredient which has long been recognized for its healing and soothing properties. The ointment should be applied after breastfeeding and the nipple area should be cleansed of ointment prior to breastfeeding. It is important for mum to continue to breastfeed whilst the nipple is healing, to keep the breast milk flowing and provide their baby with the nutrients it needs.
Kamillosan Ointment is effective because its gentle chamomile formulation not only soothes sore skin and reduces irritation, but it provides the sore nipple with a barrier which seals in moisture and stops the area from drying out. Wounds tend to heal quicker in a moist environment than if left to dry out as the skin is able to retain moisture. If the nipple is allowed to dry out, a hard crust or scab will form, which can be removed or broken when the baby latches on, causing additional skin damage and irritation.
Kamillosan doesn’t contain any alcohol or astringents which can cause further discomfort and dryness to skin. |
